Carrie H. Pavel

Carrie H. Pavel is a PhD candidate in Architectural History, Theory, and Criticism at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She holds an M.Arch from the University of Cincinnati and has worked in architecture and cultural heritage management in the US and abroad. Her research interests include intersections of early 20th century avant-garde movements and modern architecture, methodological translations between architecture and other forms of art-making, narratives of expatriation in the history and theory of modern architecture, and geopolitical considerations in the production, reception, and interpretation of modern architecture. Bringing together these diverse interests, her dissertation project examines the architecture of Romanian-Israeli painter, architect, and Dadaist Marcel Janco.
