Discovery in architectural design goes through a complex process of actions and reflections, fictions and realities, complexities and simplifications. Multiple bifurcations open in the process while the students explore new possibilities. This text documents the experimental studio entitled Chalk Laboratory, based on the work of sculptor Jorge Oteiza. In the studio, students are allowed the freedom to develop personal responses to the work that, as it develops complexity, gives way to disciplinary issues.
