Brian Goldstein is a historian of the American built environment and, beginning in fall 2017, an assistant professor of architectural history at Swarthmore College. Previously he was assistant professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of New Mexico. His work examines the intersection of architecture and urbanism, race and class, and social and political movements. His book, The Roots of Urban Renaissance: Gentrification and the Struggle Over Harlem, was published by Harvard University Press in 2017. His work has also appeared in the Journal of American History and Journal of Urban History.
